Chen Youjun
Senior Research Fellow Center for Northeast Asian Studies Institute for World Economy Studies

CHEN You-Jun is Ph.D. in Economics and Professor of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). He serves as the director of the research office for regional economy under the institute for global economy. His research fields include international political economics, regional political and economic cooperation, Sino-U.S.-Japan political and economic relations, China’s economic diplomacy and etc. He was a visiting scholar in German Development Institute (DIE, in Bonn) in 2011 and in Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS, in Washington D.C.) in 2018. He has published more than 50 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals. Meanwhile, he has published more than 300 articles of review on the newspaper and online media at domestic and abroad, as well. He is the columnist for the Global Times and HaiWai net of “People’s Daily”, China Review, and etc. His recent main works include China-US Economic Frictions (Koyosyobo Publishing House, April 2011), Japan’s New Political and Economic Values (Current Affairs Press, April 2013), Studies on Japan's Economic Policies (World Affairs Press, May 2016), Focus on Asia-Pacific region (World Affairs Press, November 2016), Research on Japan’s Structural Reform and Economy (Truth & Wisdom Press, March 2022), Japan’s Economic Diplomacy towards China in the Post-Cold War Era (Truth & Wisdom Press, February 2024). He led and participated in a number of national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and his personal papers have won the excellent thesis award of Shanghai social science academic annual meeting for many times. In addition, he also served as a council member of Chinese Association for Japanese Studies, a council member of National Japanese Economic Association, a council member of Shanghai Association for Japanese Studies and other social part-time jobs.
