Li Weijian
Senior Research Fellow Institute for Foreign Policy Studies Center for West Asian & African Studies

Professor, MA student adviser, member of the academic committee and research fellow at the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies and Center for West Asian and African Studies at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). Since his joining the institutes in 1986, he has served as vice director and director of the Comprehensive Research Department, director of the Middle East Studies Department, director of the Center for West Asian and African Studies and the director for Institute of Foreign Policy Studies under the SIIS. He also performs the responsibilities of the vice president of Chinese Association of Middle East Studies, standing director of Shanghai Institute for International Strategic Studies and Shanghai Association for International Relations, as well as a council member of Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association. Currently he mainly focuses on Middle East studies, China's Middle East policy and the relationship between China and Middle East countries. Prof. Li graduated from Shanghai International Studies University with a Ph.D. He has studied abroad at Cairo University (Egypt), and visited abroad to University of Illinois (US) and Center for Strategic and International Studies (US) as a visiting scholar. He also shoulders the editorial board member and anonymous referee of China-based monthly journal West Asia and Africa, member of the academic committee of the Middle East Studies Institute of Shanghai International Studies University, and editorial board member of the journal Arab World Studies of Shanghai International Studies University and the journal Middle East Studies of Northwest University.
