Dr. Jonathan Austin, New Zealand’s Ambassador to China Visits SIIS

On the afternoon of March 16, 2026, Prof. Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), met with Dr. Jonathan Austin, New Zealand’s Ambassador to China and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on issues including China–New Zealand relations, China–U.S. relations, regional hotspots, and the current international landscape.

Accompanying the Ambassador were Ardi Barnard, Consul General of the New Zealand Consulate General in Shanghai, and James Kim-Russell, Deputy Consul General.

 

Participants from SIIS included Zhu Juhua, Director of the Department of International Exchanges; Ye Yu, Deputy Director (Acting) of the Institute for World Economy; and Li Yanliang, Assistant to the Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies.
