NTI and APLN Delegations Visits SIIS

On the afternoon of October 16, 2025, Professor Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) met with the delegations from the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network (APLN). Chinese and American experts held in-depth discussions on managing US-China stability amidst nuclear technological and global strategic shifts, evaluating misperception and accidental escalation dangers and exploring pathways for risk reduction.
The visiting delegations included: Paul Dean, Vice President of NTI's Global Nuclear Policy Program, Mark Melamed, Deputy Vice President of NTI's Global Nuclear Policy Program, Toya Jackson, Program Officer of NTI's Global Nuclear Policy Program, Frank O'Donnell, Senior Research Advisor of APLN and Nonresident Fellow in the Stimson Center South Asia Program and Fang Liu, Policy Fellow at APLN. The Chinese scholars participating in the discussion also included: Xia Liping, Professor of the School of Political Science & International Relations at Tongji University, Lu Chuanying, Vice Dean of the School of Political Science & International Relations at Tongji University, Wu Chunsi, Director of the Center for American Studies at SIIS, and Xue Chen, Li Hongmei, and Tan Chenyi, Research Fellows at the Institute for International Strategic and Security Studies, SIIS.
