Ambassador-at-Large of Singapore Prof. Chan Heng Chee Visits SIIS

On April 12, 2024, Prof. Chan Heng Chee, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Co-chair, China-Singapore Forum, led a delegation to SIIS. Delegation members also included Ms. Mariam Jaafar, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC; Mr. Poon Hong Yuen, Deputy Secretary (Digital Economy and International), Ministry of Communications and Information; Mr. Low Eng Teong, Chief Executive Officer, National Arts Council, and others.

Prof. Chan Heng Chee attended the Roundtable, and talked about China-Singapore relations before engaging in interactive discussions with Chinese scholars on various related issues. She emphasized the significant role of China in regional affairs and expressed anticipation for China to contribute to the maintenance of regional peace and stability.

The Roundtable was moderated by SIIS President Prof. Chen Dongxiao. Chairman of SIIS Academic Advisory Council Prof. Yang Jiemian delivered the keynote speech. Other SIIS speakers included Dr. Li Kaisheng, Vice President; Dr. Shao Yuqun, Director of the Institute for Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macao Studies; and Dr. Wang Zhongmei, Director of the Institute for World Economy Studies. Mr. Wang Yu, Vice President, Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Tham Wanrong, Singapore Deputy Consul General in Shanghai, accompanied the delegation. Some of the SIIS scholars also attended the meeting.
