SIIS Delegation Visits Germany, Belgium and France

From February 13th to 23rd, 2024, an SIIS delegation visited Germany, Belgium, and France. The delegation members include: Dr. Wu Chunsi, Director of Institute for International Strategic and Security Studies; Dr. Zhao Long, Deputy Director of Institute for Global Governance Studies; Dr. Long Jing, Deputy Director of Center for European Studies; and Ms. Sun Shasha, Program Officer of the Department of International Exchanges.
In Germany, the delegation visited German Institute for International and Security Affairs, German Federal Foreign Office, European Council on Foreign Relations, Global Bridges, and Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, and exchanged views with European officials and scholars on China-European relations, global order, and Ukraine crisis. The delegation also visited Munich and attended the Munich Security Conference.
The delegation visited German Institute for International and Security Affairs and exchanged views with Dr. Barbara Lippert, Director of Research.
The delegation visited German Federal Foreign Office and exchanged views with Mr. Martin Thümmel, Deputy Director General of the Department of East Asia and South Asia and Pacific Region.
The delegation visited the European Council on Foreign Relations and exchanged views with Dr. Janka Oertel, Director of the Asia Programme.
The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Germany.
The delegation visited Global Bridges and exchanged views with Dr. Beate Lindemann, Executive Chairman.
The delegation visited the Berlin office of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center.
Dr. Wu Chunsi attended the 60th Munich Security Conference.
In Belgium, the delegation visited European Policy Centre, European Institutes of Peace, European External Action Service, Centre for European Reform, and Egmont Institute, and exchanged views with European officials and scholars on China-Europe relations, trans-Atlantic relations, European foreign policy and other issues.
The delegation visited the Chinese Mission to the EU.
The delegation visited European Policy Centre and exchanged views with Amb. Declan Kelleher, Chair of the Governing Board.
The delegation visited European Institutes of Peace and exchanged views with Dr. Stine Lehmann-Larsen, Deputy Executive Director.
The delegation visited the EU Foreign Action Service and exchanged views with Amb. Niclas Kvarnström, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific.
The delegation visited Centre for European Reform.
The delegation visited Egmont Institute.
In France, the delegation visited French National Assembly, Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques, Institut Montaigne, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and French Institute of International Relations, and exchanged views with European officials and scholars on European foreign policy, European Parliament election and China-European economic and trade cooperation.
The delegation visited the French National Assembly and exchanged views with MP Natalia Pouzyreff, and Chairman of the France-China Friendship Group Eric Alauzet on China-European relations and other issues. SIIS President Prof. Dr. Chen Dongxiao attended the meeting online.
The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in France.
The delegation visited Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques and communicated with Dr. Didier Billion, Deputy Director.
The delegation visited Institut Montaigne and exchanged views with Amb. Michel Duclos, former French Ambassador to Syria. SIIS President Prof. Dr. Chen Dongxiao and Amb. François Godement, Special Advisor of Institut Montaigne, attended the meeting online.
