HR/VP H.E. Mr. Josep Borrell Fontelles Visits SIIS

On October 12, 2023, H.E. Mr. Josep Borrell Fontelles, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, visited SIIS. Accompanying him were H.E. Amb. Jorge Toledo, Head of the European Union Delegation to China; Ms. Leila Fernandez-Stembridge, Member of Cabinet; Mr. Zaki Laidi, Senior Adviser to HR/VP, and others.

H.E. Mr. Josep Borrell Fontelles attended the Roundtable, and talked about the way Europe looks at global order before engaging in interactive discussions with Chinese scholars on various related issues. The Roundtable was moderated by SIIS President Prof. Chen Dongxiao, and Chairman of SIIS Academic Advisory Council Prof. Yang Jiemian delivered the closing remarks. Other speakers included Xu Mingqi, Vice-chairman of the Shanghai Center for International Economic Exchanges; Lv Peiming, Executive Vice President of Tongji University; Shao Yuqun, Director of the Institute for Taiwan, Hongkong & Macao Studies, SIIS; Ding Chun, Director of Centre for European Studies of Fudan University; and Ye Yu, Deputy Director of the Institute for World Economy Studies at SIIS. Some of the SIIS scholars also attended the meeting.
