Young Scholars from the Max S. Baucus Institute at the University of Montana Visits SIIS

On June 25, 2023, a delegation of young scholars from the Max S. Baucus Institute at the University of Montana visited the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies.

Dr. Shao Yuqun, Director of the Institute for Taiwan, Hongkong & Macao Studies at SIIS chaired the meeting. Dr. Shao introduced SIIS’s history, organizational structure and research programs to the delegation and had an in-depth discussion with American young scholars on topics such as the China-US interactions in the political, economic, scientific and technological, and cultural domains, the Taiwan question, and the prospect of China-US relations.

Professor Samuel Joshua Panarella of the Max S. Baucus Institute thanked SIIS for receiving the delegation, and said that such frank dialogues between Chinese and American scholars are meaningful, and he looks forward to more opportunities of exchanges with SIIS in the future.

SIIS research fellows Dr. Jiang Lixiao, Dr. Su Liuqiang and Dr. Li Hongmei joined the discussion.
