U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Rick Waters Visits SIIS

On March 22, 2023, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Rick Waters visited the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and had discussions on China-U.S. relations with SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and Chairman of SIIS Academic Advisory Council Prof. Yang Jiemian. 

Mr. Rick Waters was accompanied by U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Mr. James Heller, Deputy Principal Officer Mr. Daniel Delk, Chief of the Economic and Political Section Ms. Colleen Altstock, and Political Consul Mr. Anton Wishik. On the SIIS’s side, Dr. Shao Yuqun, Director of the Institute for Taiwan, Hongkong & Macao Studies, Ms. Zhu Juhua, Director of the Department for International Exchanges and Mr. Zhang Chong, research fellow of the Center for American Studies participated in the discussion.
