SIIS Organizes the 15th ARF EEPs Meeting

The 15th Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum Experts and Eminent Persons (15th ARF EEPs Meeting) co-chaired by China and Brunei was held virtually on July 13, 2022. The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) organized this meeting under the guidance of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PRC.
Professor Chen Dongxiao, President of SIIS co-chaired the meeting with Mr. Garry Ibrahim, Director of ASEAN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Brunei Darussalam. Ambassador Wang Fukang of the Department of Asian Affairs of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered the opening address. Nearly 60 ARF EEPs and governmental representatives from ARF members attended the meeting and had an in-depth discussion on regional security landscape, non-proliferation and disarmament, food, energy and sustainable development as well as preventative diplomacy in the Asia Pacific region.
ARF is an important platform for security dialogue in the Asia Pacific Region. The role of the EEPs is to provide intellectual support and policy recommendations to the ARF. This is the second time that SIIS has organized this meeting.
