UAE Minister of Education Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi Visits SIIS

On May 27, 2024, Prof. Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), met with the visiting UAE Minister of Education, H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi. Accompanying the Minister were officials from the UAE Ministry of Education, H.E. Muhannad Alnaqbi, the UAE Consul General in Shanghai, and representatives from UAE University, Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology, and Khalifa University.

 

Prof. Chen Dongxiao extended a warm welcome to H.E. Dr. Al Falasi and his delegation. He provided an overview of SIIS's development and noted the increasing collaboration between SIIS and think tanks in the Gulf region, including the UAE. Prof. Chen expressed hopes to further deepen pragmatic cooperation in think tank development and academic exchanges, enhancing the unique role of think tanks and promoting bilateral interactions to strengthen China-UAE relations.

H.E. Dr. Al Falasi emphasized the significance of educational and research cooperation between the UAE and China. The primary goal of the delegation's visit was to gain insights into Chinese universities and research institutions, aiming to bolster UAE-China research exchanges and personnel exchanges to achieve higher levels of collaboration.

SIIS participants included Ms. Zhu Juhua, Director of the Department of International Exchanges; Dr. Zhou Yiqi and Dr. Liu Xin from the Center for West Asian and African Studies; Ms. Huang Wenting from the Department of Research Management; and Ms. Sun Shasha from the Department of International Exchanges.
