On 2nd September 2022, the symposium on “Chinese and German Perspectives on Safeguarding Global Supply Chains”, co-organized by Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), was held with success. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and FES Shanghai Chief Representative René Bormann both delivered opening and closing remarks.
Chinese and German scholars had thoughtful discussions on Resilience of Global Supply Chains under Pressure of the Pandemic & Geopolitical Tensions and How to Avoid “Race to the Bottom” along Supply Chains? Wang Zhongmei, Director of Institute of World Economy Studies at SIIS and René Repasi, Member of the European Parliament, delivered presentations related to the theme.
Corinne Abele from German Trade and Investment, Michael Windfuhr, Vice Director of German Institute for Human Rights, Jan Jovy, Director of PwC Inbound Outbound Services, Maren Leifker, Consultant on economic and human rights issues of Bread for the World, Constanze Wang, Head of Government Affairs & Advocacy of German Chamber of Commerce, Thomas Triller, Deputy Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai, Zhang Yinghong, Director of Center for European Studies at SIIS and Long Jing, Deputy Director of Center for European Studies at SIIS participated in the discussions and gave their comments as well.
